Brennan Girls

Taking it back to 1996…

Since 2006, I’ve photographed thousands of children, but the Brennan girls hold a special place in my heart.

I met their mama Erin when I was a sophomore in high school back in 1996 at O’Fallon Township High School.  Erin and I bonded over our Honors literature and geometry classes and youth group at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.  We analyzed Dawson’s Creek, mutual friends, and boy crushes.  We wrote notes to each other nearly every day, and I still have them in a shoebox somewhere!

Any time I’m with her, I feel like I’m 15 again.

I photographed Erin’s engagement portraits, we attended each others’ weddings, and when she started a family, it felt so weird!  When I look at her children – the Brennan girls – I can’t help but see so much of Erin in their eyes.  The older they get, the neater it becomes!

This photography session is a perfect example of how I just gotta grab what I can while I can.  When I look at baby’s Rosie’s face, I can tell that she was tired the entire time, but I worked at it anyway.  The results are some stinkin’ cute pics!  The Brennan girls exhibit classic sibling behavior at these ages, and their interactions make me giggle every time I look at them.

(Psst!  Check out baby Rosie’s first professional portraits here!)

Child Photographer

I’ve photographed thousands of children since 2006.  In 2007, I began photographing children with developmental delays, ADHD, autism, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, and Marfan Syndrome.

Combined with my patience, my warm and gentle energy allows children to feel comfortable in my presence.  This is especially helpful (and necessary, I think!) with special needs children.  When photographing any child, my goal is to capture not necessarily genuine smiles but their whole personalities.  I document the “in-between” moments and all of the expressions.  I love catching them in their own thoughts.  Their joy, their hesitance, their curiosity, their frustrations.

As a Denver child photographer, I bring over 11 years of experience in photographing children including those with special needs.  Whether a fussy toddler, stubborn grade-schooler, pouty tween, or “wild child,” I’ve worked with all of them.  Successfully too, I might add!

Go ahead.  Give me a go at ’em.  🙂

I not only photograph in the Denver area, but I travel all over Colorado and beyond.  I understand the importance of parents finding that perfect person with whom their child connects, and I am happy to travel to you.
