Goldberg Family
The Goldberg Family
Y’all remember my friend Jon Goldberg, right? Denver Dad Jon – the residential real estate agent that I met on Twitter? The reason I joined the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce? I wrote about that experience in my “Joining the Chamber” post, and now, I’m writing about him again. 🙂
Because I photographed him and his family!!!!!
(I pretty much insisted that they model for me.)
Good lookin’ crew, yeah?
The Family
In the time that I’ve known Jon, I’ve really come to admire his family.
They work hard, but they play hard. In my opinion, what’s more important is that they play together. Their schedules are always crazy, but the four of them are such a solid team. You can see the connection between each of them to each other.
I could feel it.
The day I came over to photograph them, their schedules weren’t any less crazy. But they had a 60 to 90-minute window in the middle of their day, and they graciously gave it to me.
Thanks, y’all!
Look at all of this LOVE!
So. Sweet.
Oh, and we can’t forget the cats!
Their names are Grey and Milky Way. Aren’t those awesome cat names?!
The Couple
You know how I feel about grabbing a portrait or two of just the couple together. 😉
These two. 21 years together! Good stuff.
You can tell they still like each other. 😉
And can we talk about how gorgeous Jon’s wife is??! Megan is a true natural beauty. When I met her, I felt like it might be weird if I gushed about how beautiful I thought she was to her, so I held off. Didn’t want to make things awkward before we even began photographing. But I feel comfortable saying it now – Megan, you are gorgeous.
The Boys
When I was working in the corporate portrait studio, it was on rare occasions that I had the privilege of photographing anyone over the age of five. Sebby and Owen are ages 11 and 12 respectively, AND A BLAST. I forgot how much fun it is to photograph boys.
Look at these cuties!
Smiley guys. Naturally smiley. I knew they were good kids, but I still expected to have to work for the smiles. Nope. These Goldberg boys are fantastic in front of the camera! 🙂
So smiley, in fact, that I had to instruct them to be serious for one.
I’m surprised Sebby was able to pull it off. 😉
Good listeners though!
Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I didn’t get to see their silly sides…
I did…and it was great!
I could hang out with these guys more often. For real.
Some Reflections
Moments like these. I love moments like these. And I love even more when I snap the shutter in time to catch them. 😉
These in-between moments make me smile so much. Sebby had expressed interest in wanting a portrait of just himself and Milky Way together, but Jon swiped up Milky Way first, saying “I want my photo with Milky Way!” The boys busted out into giggles and tried to grab the cat. I took the shot and then realized how special this image was.
It’s spontaneous, it’s real, and it’s pure joy. (At least for the humans.)
I imagined this same scene 3 years down the road. As teenagers, would Owen and Sebby act any differently? They’ll certainly look different! I reflected on how much I changed from age 12 to 15, and the importance of the day hit me. The importance of my job hit me.
It’s a great honor to photograph families.
It was even more fulfilling for me to be able to jump into the middle of their Saturday and jump right back out with a full, beautiful photo shoot in my camera. Dare I say a little exhilarating. As I drove away from their home, I thought to myself, “See, Steph? This is exactly why you want to bring the entire photography experience to families!” All the Goldberg Family had to do was stay right where they were (at home), drop everything for an hour, follow my instructions, and then they could pick right back up where they left off.
Ok, one more. 🙂
Denver Family Photographer
Although I am technically a Lakewood, Colorado, family photographer, please consider me to photograph your family anywhere – in Colorado or beyond! Proudly holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art and Design, I majored in Photography and Drawing and have been a professional family photographer since 2006. While working in a traditional, brick-and-mortar, family portrait studio for over 6 years, I photographed hundreds of families.
My goal is always to pose family members in ways that show true, comfortable connection, and I strive for genuine smiles. Especially when it comes to kiddos! If they’re giving me fake smiles, I’m not even interested in snapping the photo. I aim to capture real personalities and the moments in-between the posed portraits. A natural and easy experience is what families can expect to enjoy with Sweet Green Photography.
I elaborate on that a bit here – The Sweet Green Experience.
