Beautiful Bella
I had been hearing about Bella well over a year before I got to meet her. At last, when the week came in August of this year, I couldn’t wait to photograph her. Bella. Summer 2018. Finally.
I drove down to Dallas, Texas, to meet her. She was as sweet as I expected and prettier than I imagined.
At 14 years old, this German Shepherd-Siberian Husky mix spent much of her younger years running mile after mile through Dallas neighborhoods.
Now, she spends her mornings exercising at a slower pace. Hour-long walks around her neighborhood start her day. Her hips give her trouble, but her pace is still faster than my Colorado-mountain-hiking standard dachshund can handle!
Although a particularly fluffy mix of dog breeds, sweet Bella still enjoys her sunshine. When she gets too warm, she cools off in the pool or stands at the back door and stares inside her home until someone lets her back in the house.
I was delighted to get to photograph beautiful Bella relaxing in her backyard this summer.
Pet Photographer
As a Colorado pet photographer, I specialize in Denver dog photography.
I’ve been photographing pets artistically since 2001. At Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, Illinois, where I earned my Associate of Arts, I purchased my very first film camera. During this time, I learned how to use my new camera by practicing on my family’s pets, loading long negative film strips and then developing those black and white prints in the darkroom. Click here to read more about that.
In 2002, when I started working on my Bachelor of Fine Arts at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, I began photographing pets digitally.
When I launched Sweet Green Photography in 2015, I passionately printed my pet portraits on hardcover books and gallery wrap canvases.
It’s exciting to be a pet photographer in Colorado because I am surrounded by beautiful, happy dogs everywhere! Colorado loves their canine companions, and I love capturing the quirks, warmth, and gentle souls of these dogs in their own personal photo shoots.
